Who we are
SJF Books LLC (“we,” “us”) operates sjfbooks.com and related pages, including its subdomains. This policy describes what information we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
We collect information you provide directly: your name and email address when you contact us, subscribe to our newsletter, or complete a quiz or assessment; responses you submit through our quizzes and forms; booking information when you schedule a consultation; and billing information when you purchase services. We do not see or store your full payment card details — payments are processed by Stripe. Like most websites, we also collect standard technical data (IP address, browser type) through our hosting and analytics tools.
Comments
If you leave a comment on our blog, we collect the data shown in the comment form along with your IP address and browser information to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there; Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your comment and profile picture are visible publicly in the context of your post. If you comment, you may opt in to cookies that save your name, email, and website for next time; these cookies last one year. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to inquiries, deliver services you’ve requested, process payments, send newsletters or updates you’ve subscribed to, moderate and display blog comments, and operate and improve the site. We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services
We use trusted third parties to operate: Formly (quizzes and forms), TidyCal (scheduling), Stripe (payments, including installment options such as Klarna or Affirm where offered), Gravatar (comment profile pictures), our email newsletter provider, and our website hosts. Each processes your data under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Retention
We keep your information as long as needed to provide services, comply with legal and tax obligations, and maintain business records. Blog comments are retained as described above. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, tax, or security purposes). This includes data from comments you have left. To make a request, contact us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we will honor valid requests accordingly.
Children
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date will reflect the current version.
